Established in 1947, the Panjab University is celebrating its Diamond Jubilee Year
with the holding of a number of seminars/conferences and starting of
new interdisciplinary courses in keeping with the changing time. A
special drive has been launched to make this beautiful campus
environment friendly and pollution free. Panjab University has a long
tradition of pursuing excellence in teaching and research in science
and technology, humanities, social sciences, performing arts and
sports. Recently it has been accredited with NAAC five star status.
The University has been selected by the UGC as the "University with
Potential for Excellence in Bio-Medical Sciences", thus it is an
appropriate venue for the symposium. Fourteen
years ago the 64th session of
the Academy was also held successfully by Panjab University in the
year 1994.
